Inspection

Weld Inspection

Certified weld inspection verifies that welds meet design and code requirements using visual, UT, MPI and PT methods.

Overview

Weld Inspection confirms that welded joints are fabricated correctly and free of defects that could compromise strength or safety. NDT Australia combines visual inspection with ultrasonic, magnetic particle and dye penetrant testing to detect cracks, porosity, lack of fusion, undercut and other discontinuities.

Our inspectors work to AS/NZS 1554 and relevant fabrication codes, providing weld inspection during fabrication, at handover, and throughout the service life of structures and equipment.

Applications

Weld Inspection is applied across a wide range of assets and industries, including:

  • Structural steel fabrication and construction welds
  • Pressure equipment and pipework welds
  • Repair weld verification
  • Fatigue-critical weld monitoring in service

Our inspections are performed and reported to the applicable Australian and international standards:

  • AS/NZS 1554 — Structural steel welding
  • AS 2207 — Ultrasonic testing of welds
