Annual EWP & Crane Compliance Inspections

Annual compliance inspections for elevating work platforms and cranes across Australia — AS2550-certified safety reports, fast turnaround and fleet scheduling that keeps your machines legally on the job.

Overview

Every EWP and crane operating in Australia requires a periodic inspection at least annually under the AS 2550 series — AS 2550.10 for elevating work platforms and AS 2550.1 for cranes. An annual inspection confirms the machine remains structurally sound, its safety systems function, and it is safe to keep working for another inspection period.

NDT Australia delivers annual inspections nationwide with certified inspectors, clear AS2550 compliance reports and fast turnaround. For fleet owners, we build scheduled programs that keep every machine current without disrupting work.

Mandatory Annual Safety Checks Under AS2550.10 & AS2550.1

AS 2550.10 (elevating work platforms) and AS 2550.1 (cranes — general requirements) set out the mandatory periodic inspection regime for equipment in service. The annual inspection is the backbone of that regime: a documented, competent-person examination of the machine's structure, mechanisms and safety systems.

Skipping or delaying annual inspections leaves owners non-compliant, exposes operators to unnecessary risk, and can void insurance. A current annual inspection report is also routinely demanded by site auditors and principal contractors before a machine is allowed on site.

What Our Annual Inspection Covers

  • Structural welds — visual and NDT crack checks at high-stress locations
  • Safety interlocks, limit switches and emergency controls
  • Load testing and load-holding verification
  • Emergency descent and rescue system function
  • Hydraulic integrity — rams, hoses, valves and leak checks
  • Pins, bushes, wear pads and slew components
  • Placards, decals, log books and compliance documentation

Periodic vs. Annual vs. Major Inspection
