Ten year major inspections can provide detailed strip-down NDT and engineering review for cranes and lifting equipment where the equipment, records or applicable requirements call for that scope.
Overview
A Ten Year Major Inspection may be considered when a crane or lifting appliance reaches a manufacturer, design-life or service-history milestone; ten years is not a universal interval for every machine. It can involve dismantling, cleaning and NDT of structural and mechanical components, followed by engineering assessment where commissioned.
NDT Australia can coordinate scheduling, dismantling, NDT and reporting with reference to AS 2550 and AS 1418 where applicable. Any certification or return-to-service decision depends on the agreed scope and responsible engineer.
