Asset Integrity

Asset Integrity Inspection

Asset integrity inspection gathers targeted condition evidence to answer a defined question about an asset or portfolio. It is the examination component of a wider integrity process.

Overview

Asset integrity inspection gathers targeted condition evidence to answer a defined question about an asset or portfolio. It is the examination component of a wider integrity process.

NDT Australia provides a single enquiry and co-ordination point for industrial inspection through specialist partners. The proposed provider, personnel competence, method-specific qualifications where required, insurance and any separate approval requirements are checked for the actual scope before appointment; no general accreditation or acceptance guarantee is implied.

Assets & Materials

Mixed industrial portfolios can include structures, pressure equipment, pipework, tanks and lifting plant. Scope follows the asset register, service conditions and suspected damage.

Methods & Limitations

Records review, visual surveys, thickness measurements and suitable targeted NDT build a located evidence set. The work plan distinguishes screening from detailed examination.

Sampling is not complete coverage and undocumented service history increases uncertainty. Inspection evidence alone does not determine structural capacity, remaining life or all statutory obligations.

Typical Defects & Conditions

  • Corrosion and erosion in nominated examination areas
  • Fatigue-related indications at selected features
  • Visible damage, deterioration and changes from previous condition records

Planning the Inspection

Identify consequence, duty, known defects and the decision each asset's results will support. Agree consistent identifiers across the inspection team and the owner's asset-management system.

Expected Reporting Deliverables

Request asset-linked findings, method and extent, exclusions, condition photographs and a list of questions for engineering or maintenance review. Priority categories must have a defined basis.

Applications

Asset Integrity Inspection is applied across a wide range of assets and industries, including:

  • Mixed industrial portfolios can include structures, pressure equipment, pipework, tanks and lifting plant. Scope follows the asset register, service conditions and suspected damage.
  • Inspection planning for mining assets and operators
  • Inspection planning for water authorities assets and operators
  • Inspection planning for infrastructure assets and operators

Standards & Competence Context

The references below are planning context, not a claim of accreditation, certified compliance or a universal acceptance rule. Confirm the applicable edition, part, material, procedure and acceptance criteria for this asset. Verify the appointed personnel's method, level and sector competence, insurance and any engineering authority required for the scope before work. A method standard is not itself a return-to-service approval.

  • AS 3788 — Pressure equipment in-service inspection
  • ISO 55000 — Asset management (framework)

Why Choose NDT Australia

  • One enquiry point for scope and specialist-partner co-ordination
  • Asset-linked findings with examination extent and limitations
  • Separate identification of engineering and operational decisions
