Overview

Ultrasonic Testing (UT) works by sending high-frequency sound waves into a material. When the sound hits a defect or the back wall, it reflects back to the probe; by timing these reflections, an inspector can locate flaws and measure thickness.

UT can find deep internal defects that surface methods miss, making it invaluable for weld inspection and corrosion monitoring.
