What is Eddy Current Testing?
Eddy Current Testing detects surface and near-surface cracks in conductive materials using electromagnetic induction.
Overview
Eddy Current Testing (ECT) induces small electrical currents in a conductive material. A crack or flaw disturbs these currents, which the instrument detects. ECT can inspect through paint and coatings, making it fast and cost-effective.
It is widely used to find fatigue cracks on elevated work platforms, cranes and other high-duty equipment.
