Why EWP Inspection Matters
Elevated work platforms are fatigue-loaded machines that spend their lives raising and lowering under load. Over time, high-stress welds and pivots can develop cracks that are invisible without proper NDT. Regular inspection catches these before they cause a failure.
Warning Signs to Watch For
Some issues are visible to an operator, while others require certified inspection to detect:
- Unusual noises, movement or play in the boom
- Visible cracks, corrosion or paint flaking at welds
- Hydraulic leaks or slow, jerky operation
- Overdue routine or major inspection
- Recent overload or impact event
What an Inspection Involves
A certified EWP inspection combines visual inspection with eddy current and magnetic particle testing of fatigue-critical welds and pins, followed by a clear report and, where due, a major inspection.
