Overview

Destructive testing evaluates material properties by loading a sample to failure — useful for verifying strength but consuming the sample. Non-destructive testing evaluates integrity without damaging the component, so it can be used on the actual in-service asset.

Most integrity and compliance work uses NDT because it inspects the real equipment without taking it out of service.
